Tribot Procedural Animation | Unreal Engine Control Rig

Here is a little robot rigged in Maya and procedurally animated in Unreal Engine using Control Rig.

I wanted to explore the world of procedural animations after seeing how much life they can breath into a character without needing to create animations for every possible scenario the character could encounter.

Animations are driven entirely by the control rig. Foot placement and head tilt are calculated using pawn's velocity and a series of sphere casts, meaning no player input or state machine is need to achieve smooth, dynamic and adjustable movements. Virtually any aspect of the walk animation is able to be variably controlled and adjusted, including it's step pattern and stride length.
